The new semester is about to start and and I am looking forward to it. New semester means campus and the town becomes lively again and we will most likely gain at least one or two new Taido students. I feel like I get the best of both worlds: Fall and Spring semesters are busy and lively in town while Winter is fairly toned down but still a bit lively from students that don’t go home and then we have Summer. Summer is dead. The town is calmer, campus is nice to stroll about with limited people and is a nice cool down from how many people will flood in.
But I must admit I’m kinda ready for the town to liven up again. There’s more of a buzz in the air and an exciting nightlife. Well, as exciting as it can get here.
When new people start and try Taido out, it gets me more motivated to be better and train harder. I’ve been in kind of a funk at this tail end of the summer. BUT I’ve been hitting the gym again and I’m thinking harder and training harder in Taido practice. After training in Japan, I’ve learned that I need faster Sentai’s (If you don’t know here’s a link to what it looks like it’s the spinny move in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPLG0quQXQI&pp=ygURdGFpZG8gc2VudGFpIG1vdmU%3D.) Speed is something I need to work on in general, but I’m confident of getting faster after some of the tips and watching how it’s done by people that have been doing Taido for up to 50 years!
This post is more of a check in while I get some other posts ready. I have to get some pictures for the Summer Camp 2024 post and fill in some highlights of the trip then the biggest post will be about my trip to Japan! I’m really excited to talk about the training we did and some of the fun stories that happened during the sightseeing portions.
Til next time,
Peace out folks!
