{"id":77,"date":"2023-11-06T13:57:26","date_gmt":"2023-11-06T19:57:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bamsam.fun\/?p=77"},"modified":"2024-01-21T22:42:33","modified_gmt":"2024-01-22T04:42:33","slug":"taido-black-belt-test-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bamsam.fun\/?p=77","title":{"rendered":"Taido Black Belt Test 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I had the joy and honor to attend the Taido Shodan (Beginner) Black Belt Test that was held November 4th, 2023. The Black Belt Candidates were Tony Garcia, Pubuduni Ekanayaka Mudiyanselage Egoda Walawwe, and Wes Salton. Shelley Keith took the test alongside the other candidates in place of her late husband, Ron Cossman, who unfortunately passed away before the test. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shelley Keith started MSU Taido in 2009 as a Black Belt and Tony and Ron both joined a few years after that and then Pubuduni joined in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I wanted to make this post to honor Ron and Congratulate Tony, Pubuduni and Wes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I did not know Ron for long, but every time we met, we always had a good laugh. Ron kept doing Taido while dealing with bone spurs in his foot after surgery, he was a tough and persevering guy. In the picture below, you can see Shelley Sensei wearing his Black Belt. His Black Belt is the first and only in Taido as of now to be stitched in white to symbolize everlasting and purity. He was one of the few most down to earth, fun loving, and intellectual person I have met. Ron left a deep and positive impact on Taido and the people around him. Ron is surely kicking it up and finding new adventures now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tony is the club advisor and teacher for MSU Taido and Pubuduni also helps teach us. They have been such a positive influence on me during my time at MSU and I have been so grateful to have met and gotten to know them. Tony has been the rock that holds MSU Taido in place and will only become sturdier now that he has his Black Belt. Pubuduni&#8217;s Taido moves are graceful, fluid, and flow together so well. Both are indispensable to the club for teaching and passing on the Taido Spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wes started Taido in 2002 and left to do other things before moving back close to Atlanta, Georgia and picked up where he left off at the Honbu, headquarters, to become a Black Belt.
