Taido Summer Camp went by really quick this year, but lemme start by saying it’s been a while since I’ve had the motivation to finish this post and just to blog in general. BUT! I am back and motivated! This will be a short post since this years summer camp was pretty much the exact same as it was in my previous Taido Summer Camp 2023 post. The difference this year was that I knew more people and had more friends that I made throughout the year there. As fun as the blindfolded watermelon smashing, the tug of war, and practicing on the beach is, the people make it worth it for me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had a smaller group go this year made up of Purple Belts and up. I was at Purple-gold I think at the start of the trip. Our small group almost all knew each other and for the one or two I didn’t know, I got to know. Since we were a smaller group, we got to be more flexible when doing stuff outside of scheduled events and practices. We found a really good Japanese restaurant and a few people ordered a sushi BOAT. A BOAT! It was so cool! (I’m drooling even months later)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We went to this restaurant twice cause it was soooo good. I’ll picture dump some more at the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Summer Camp, I was promoted from Purple-gold to Green-red Belt! This year, 2024, is when U.S. Taido rejoined the World Taido organization so everyone performed Shein Untai no Hokei. Shein Untai is a hokei taught in Japan that was not mandatory for anyone in U.S. Taido to learn (all hokeis are fun to learn but you need a set list of five for your Shodan\/Blackbelt). The original order of hokeis for U.S. Taido was Untai no Hokei, Sentai no Hokei, Hentai no Hokei, Nentai no Hokei, and Tentai no Hokei. The new order is Untai no Hokei, Sentai no Hokei, Shein Untai no Hokei, and Nentai no Hokei as of right now. Could change, don’t really know, if it does I’ll bring it up in another future post. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well… I couldn’t find the original photo of my Green-red belt… Sooooooo… ignore the brown thingy… That is spoiler for the next post XD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also at Summer Camp, a special guest from Japan, Hinata, was visiting the US and picked up Taido in the US instead of Japan lol. She was a White Belt starting summer camp and got her green stripes I think by the end of it! Halfway through White belt! Hinata also got with a bunch of other kids\/teenagers from the Honbu in Georgia to put on a dance routine at the Banquet! There’s a video somewhere out there that I don’t have of it, if I ever get my hands on it I’ll try to remember to put it in this post. Hinata also played a big role in planning the trip to Japan that I got to go on. I got to thank her by the Pong Table of all places lol at an after part the night of the banquet for that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s also a video where Mitsuaki Sensei got dragged on the dance floor and danced to Gangnam Style XD. Will also post vid of it if I find it. Unless I’m told not to post it or to take it down… It’s a cool video though lol.<\/s><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer Camp 2024 ended with lots of fun and good times and I can’t wait for next years! As promised above, photo dump below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
